I'll pipe in here. The caduceus coil was popularized by Wilbur Smith of Canada. He experimented with it as a sort of HF ~30khZ sink. He found at certain RF signals it would absorb the EM energy. Think of it as a way to create a ground potential without the ground. His reasoning for experimenting with it was kinda out-there.
